Timm Barkworth - Baritone

Timm was always interested in singing and music and at the age of 8 started piano lessons, achieving all grades in Piano and three in music theory. By then, he was already singing in the local youth church choir which involved mini-productions, short sketches and many solo performances.

Moving onto secondary school, he joined with a group of fellow students to form a 'Gospel' band playing and singing in harmony. He continued to study music at every available opportunity, and began performing with the a cappella group, Berkley Singers who sang a wide variety of close harmony music.

Timm started his barbershop career at the age of 14, having seen an advert to join Sheffield - Hallmark of Harmony Chorus. He was instantly hooked and sang with Sheffield for a further 12 years, being part of 3 of their 6 Chorus gold medal performances. He was encouraged by Steve Hall in particular to broaden his talents by attending Harmony College and learning more about vocal craft.

In 2003, Timm joined Grand Central Chorus, who went onto win gold later that year in Harrogate. Shortly after, he was asked to become Voice Coach for the chorus. He also began teaching voice to various quartets and choruses as well as to individual members of BABS and LABBS.

In 2004, he was privileged to receive a scholarship from BABS to attend the International Harmony College in St.Joseph, Missouri. He took the CAPS program (International Coaching Apprenticeship Program) and learned many new ideas from some of the world's best coaches, which, he says, was an awesome experience!!

On his return, he was invited to take the post of BABS Youth Development Officer which he was thrilled to accept. His aim is to encourage as many youngsters as possible into BABS and, in turn, pass on his love and experiences of this art form - hence this year's New Youth Stream.

Timm's personal quartet experience has been with Classified, Quartet Finalists in 1999, and Pitch Invasion, 2006 British Gold Medallists and 2005 European Bronze Medallists.

Timm is now a successful vocal coach travelling through out the UK and Europe working with a variety of Clubs, Groups and of course Quartets. In between time Timm likes to spend quality time with his Daughter Jessica.
