Geoff Unwin - Baritone

Geoff is the newcomer to the quartet having only recently joined the existing line up. He is however, no stranger to the barbershop style with a number of successful previous quartets under his belt and both quartet and chorus gold medallist winning performances during his 26 years in the association.

Geoff is now singing baritone in quartet for the first time in a number of years having previously medalled singing both bass and tenor.

Geoff's first quartet medal success came as bass with the quartet Harmonix in the early '90's and this line up also included Tony as tenor, so it's a real thrill to be singing once again with an 'old hand' on tenor. Three appearances at International and a best place of 30th sit pleasantly in the memory during that formative period. Geoff's next sojourn into quarteting was with The Light Industrial Society quartet which won Gold at Bournemouth in 2002. Singing tenor, Geoff showed that he had obviously learned a great deal from his earlier mentors and was able to put it to good use !!

Geoff has been a member of the successful Cambridge Chord Company chorus since 1999 winning no less than 4 national championships and 2 Europeans but his shining and most abiding memory will be the victory of the chorus at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod in North Wales in 2004. Born a Welshman in the shadows of the hills surrounding Llangollen, it had always been one of his abiding ambitions to appear on the Eisteddfod stage...but to win it...wow..what a thrill. A moment and an experience which will long stay in the memory.

Geoff is married with two children and a software consultant by profession.  When he is is not singing, Geoff is a keen footballer (albeit now a bit old to run too fast though), amateur dramatist and golfer. The rest of his time is taken up being taxi for his children as they pursue their own sporting and dancing interests. Geoff's most recent adventure saw him and his 14 yr old son complete the Offa's Dyke Path walk from Chepstow to Prestatyn of 182 miles in 9 and a half days for the Macmillan Nurses Charity in April 2007..he's still recovering...take it easy on him !!
